What we offer

FESTI’s on-line and in-house NFPA 1041 Firefighter Training Platform is one of a kind and offers a new and exciting approach to fire training in Canada. It is recognized by the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) and the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC).

Upon successful completion of the theoretical program elements, students qualify to attend FESTI to complete the mandatory, two-day practical training and testing program. The practical phase of FESTI’s program challenges the individual to demonstrate the knowledge they acquired during the online phase. Through hands-on practice and live presentations to other class members, the students will learn all of the skills necessary to take the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office (OFM) Provincial written and skill evaluations. FESTI optimizes the learning environment by maintaining a 6:1 student-instructor ratio during all practical presentations and restricts the number of students to a maximum of 12 per session.

A blended approach to comprehensive training

Our blended learning strategy incorporates a variety of training tools and aids to assist students in successfully completing the theoretical portion of the program. Learners will be required to download their choice of two pre-constructed lesson packages containing all materials required to instruct a 30-minute theory and practical lesson. Throughout the program, learners will be required to modify and adjust these lesson plans according to the information acquired during the program. Learning comprehension is evaluated by completing activities, assignments and quizzes which are submitted to program instructors for grading and feedback or are automatically graded with feedback. These required elements ensure that the student understands the learning objectives of each module and is further validated by the use of end of module evaluations. Once all of the individual elements have been successfully completed the learner can proceed to the next program module.

This high level of individual attention creates an excellent developmental environment for the motivated firefighter to successfully complete all of the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office (OFM) Provincial Exam requirements and earn not only their IFSAC, NFPA 1041 Level I certification, but the Institution of Fire Engineers Accreditations as well.

Student requirements

Students should schedule two months to complete their theory portion of the program. The time required may vary depending on the time a student dedicates to the program.
