  • NFPA 472 HAZARDOUS MATERIALS OPERATIONS PLUS

    Meets the requirements of NFPA 472, Standard on Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents, 2008 edition. 

    Pre-Requisites:  NFPA 1001, Hazardous Materials Awareness Level, Hazardous Materials Operations, or equivalent.  Copies of Pre-Requisites must be attached to application.  For applicants seeking IFSAC Accreditation, copies of pre-requisites must be submitted with official IFSAC Seals. 

    Description:
    Successful completion of this program will entitle a candidate to challenge the Ontario Fire Marshal provincial exam for IFSAC Accreditation for this level. First responders at the Operational Plus level build on the knowledge gained through the Operations course along with classroom lectures and field training to act in a defensive posture to protect people, the environment, and property from the effects of an unplanned hazardous materials release. Students will gain knowledge in the mission specific areas of illicit labs, advanced air monitoring, technical and mass decontamination, evidence preservation, and victim rescue. Students will utilize these skills during practical exercises involving hazardous materials containers, terrorism activities, and illicit labs. 

    Objectives:
    The purpose of this course is to specify, in terms of performance objectives, the minimum requirements for professional service as a responder to hazardous materials incidents. This course shall cover the requirements for the Hazardous Materials Operations level. 

    Course Duration:            5 days training (OFM exam client determined) 

    Course Hours:                 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

    Course Materials:  All manuals required for the program are supplied, and must be returned upon completion of the program, they are available for purchase if desired. 

    Fee:  Payment must be made when registering for courses. We reserve the right to cancel seven days prior to any course in which the minimum registration is not achieved. 

    Student must bring:  As this course involves physical activities, a change of clothes is advisable. Shower facilities are available. A practical outdoor exercise will be performed as part of this course, please dress according to weather.
