NFPA 1072 Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations.

What we offer

The purpose of this course is to specify, in terms of performance objectives, the minimum requirements for professional service as a responder to hazardous materials incidents. This course shall cover the requirements for the Hazardous Materials Mission Specific Level.

This program is designed to provide students with greater knowledge and experience for working at an emergency scene involving hazardous materials. This course blends theory and practical evolutions as it builds on the knowledge learned at the Operations level. Key concepts covered during this course are personal protective equipment, technical decontamination, mass decontamination, evidence preservation and sampling, product control, victim rescue and recovery, and response to illicit laboratories.

This course meets the requirements of NFPA 1072, Standard on Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Incidents, Mission Specific Level, 2017 edition.


Payment must be made when registering for courses. We reserve the right to cancel seven days prior to any course in which the minimum registration is not achieved.

This course is scheduled for five (5) days.

8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Course materials

All manuals required for the program are supplied, and must be returned upon completion of the program, they are available for purchase if desired.

Students must bring

As this course involves physical activities, a change of clothes is advisable, and shower facilities are available. A practical outdoor exercise will be performed as part of this course. Please dress according to the weather.


Successful completion of this program will entitle a candidate to a certificate with the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) accreditation. At this time, we are not offering the Office of the Fire Marshal provincial exam for International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) Accreditation for the Mission Specific level.
